Western Electric forgot that you don’t want to have to check how you’re dressed and if your hair is in shape just to make a phone call.
What company predicted the fall of phone calls and the dominance of short messages such as “hey d00d im at th store and im typig on tiny keyboard just to avoid talking to you laterz”
Baldios - Japanese movie opening
I love this song. Sadly the English dub (titled variously BATTLE FOR SPACE STATION S-1 and SPACE WARRIOR BALDIOS) jettisoned it in favor of opening with a dubbed version of the ending theme of the film.
As far as I know, that was the original, unedited 1943 Batman serial in 1965. The dubbed version originated with Goodtimes Home Video when they released it to cash in on the 1989 Batman movie.
I’ve only seen the first episode of the 1943 BATMAN serial and wasn’t impressed. The SUPERMAN serials are far more entertaining.
“A wise government rounded up the [IMMORAL HOODS]” - Goodtimes’ not so good BATMAN dub. I’ve never seen this version until now with the “new” narration - glad I waited for the real thing. Goodtimes’ redub narrator sounds like the narrator from SUPERHUMAN SAMURAI SYBER SQUAD.
Was this a cleaned-up dub of the 1943 BATMAN with the WWII anti-Japanese sentiments bowdlerized? I’d heard there was one floating around. No mention of Dr Daka or “a wise government rounding up the shifty-eyed J*ps” [actual dialogue from the narration - aargh] in this poster.
I’d read that this happened in 1965, but this is the first ad I’ve seen for it.
Same here! I read about this for many years.
Mogera looks OK, but I prefer the sentai-colored Mysterian costumes from the film itself to the dull gold outfit the poster alien wears. A lame attempt at “realism”? Bah.
The top is Silver Mask regular; the bottom Silver Mask Giant (when he was turned into an ULTRAMAN clone in a last ditch effort for ratings).
I think BCI has the rights to the show, but didn’t release it before their collapse. Oh well - just glad I have IRON KING, RED BARON and FIGHT! DRAGON.
